WHO ARE WE? USA Based Professional Broadcasters and Engineers. We are people who have dedicated our lives to pioneering creative solutions to the challenge of building broadcast facilities in remote regions of the world. Broadcastworld is the worldwide export division of EBS and you can email our main company here. All items from this site must be used outside of the USA. Domestic broadcast equipment sales are handled through www.ebsradio.com.
WHERE HAVE WE SENT RADIO KITS? Our first kit was sent to the Republic of Maldives, shortly after that, the US Army wanted a community station shipped to Afganistan. We have sent more Radio Station Kits to African Nations than anywhere else. We have the distiction of sending one of our Radio Station Kits way up North...Look for Baffin Island on a map and a small place called Clyde River. If you venture that far north you'll need a plane or snowshoes to get in. There you'll find a community radio station on the air - we pre-wired it in our warehouse and shipped it there.
WHAT DO WE OFFER? Complete Radio Station Kits. Oh sure, we could sell you just a transmitter or antenna, but that isn't what you need to build and operate a radio station. You need real broadcast equipment, not some left-overs from someones home stereo connected to a sub-standard transmitter you found on an auction site. As professional broadcasters ourselves, we know what is required and how it should work. If fact, we even offer a training course in station operation and broadcast automation programming. We also believe in making it simple for non-technical types and the equipment has to be rugged and dependable.
WHERE DO WE START? 1. Determine your budget. Do you have $50,000 USD to invest in your new station? We can build small stations for less and larger stations for considerably more, but if you don't have deep financial resources, perhaps building a radio station is not a good idea. 2. Look over the Radio Station Kits we offer and select the one that meets your budget limitations and broadcast plans. 3. Email us with your selections. Most commercial radio stations will have two studios, one On Air Studio (comes in the radio kit) and another Recording / Editing Studio plus a Tower. Sometimes you can buy a tower in country, but bring us the exact specifications so that we can verify it is the right tower height and design. Towers are sold separately at the bottom of this page. Be sure to look over the Add-On Studios and various Studio Upgrades.

One of the first questions most people ask about a new station is, "How Far Will It Transmit?" Truthfully this is difficult to answer.
FM Radio Signals travel in pretty much a straight line from the antenna...so the taller the tower the antenna is mounted on, the farther away the signal can be heard. Here is a simple comparison sample coverage map showing three different power levels and what you might expect. CLICK FOR PDF MAP. Sample coverages are planned using flat ground and a certain height tower...so if your area has hills or other natural obstructions, your FM signal may have "shadow areas" or places where the signal is blocked. Fill in transmitters or translators may be used to rebroadcast signals to blocked out areas. Our engineering department will be able to assist you with difficult FM areas. While a low power FM signal can be heard line of sight for a great distance, your station will require enough power to pentrate buildings and not just be heard on car radios. The sample coverage shows clearly how far a "city grade signal" or strong 60 dBu signal can travel. This is the level that should be heard on indoor radios...the penetrating signal. |
